Southern Pines is one the North Carolina’s best small towns for overall quality of life and simply a great place to live. A train track goes through the middle of town, but the trains pass through a tree lined corridor planted almost a hundred years ago to grace the village. The sound of the train whistle at night is romantic to our residents. On both sides of Broad Street the retail stores from a unique yarn shop, to a bicycle shop to a popular tack store for equestrians all flourish. Surrounding the downtown are cottages built just after the turn of the century through the 1920’s with a look of New England in their architecture.
Three Donald Ross golf courses, Pine Needles, Mid-Pines and the Elks Club anchor the communities surrounding the downtown. Many of the town’s signature homes are in the Knollwood area near Pine Needles. Midland Road, all the way to Pinehurst, showcases a variety of lovely homes including many outstanding townhome communities.
Weymouth, located between downtown and the reservation area of Ft. Bragg, also features a variety of the town’s older homes with the Weymouth Center, the park at the Campbell House and Weymouth Woods State Park feature attractions. On the Indiana Avenue side of Weymouth are a number of neighborhoods like Sandhurst and James Creek where you might find a basketball goal and bikes in the yard.
